It was from 1947 that Professeur Félix Trombe came to live in Mont Louis, to build, with his associates, the first solar furnace with dual reflection in the world.
Since the 1940s, the technology surrounding solar furnaces has fascinated the scientific world of high temperatures, because of the concentration of absolute purity of solar energy and the total absence of polluting elements.

While visiting the Solar Furnace at Mont-Louis, our guide will take you to the heart of the installations to explain the workings and the use of the solar furnace.  Simple scientific and educational applications add to the visit for your further enjoyment, with, for example:  the materialisation of solar concentration in the centre, between 2000°C and 3500°C, the inflamation of wood, the fusion of metal, the baking of ceramics …

The visit ends with a complete panorama of technology using solar energy:  Thermal solar captors, sun showers, photovoltaic cells, solar cookers …
You can discover, in our boutique, ceramics baked by the concentration of the rays of the sun (made and baked on site), objects in bronze made and cast also on site, as well as various solar equipment, a large choice of educative games, books and videos.
