Authentic saffron grown in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Catalan Pyrenees
The saffron enjoys a unique micro climate in France with an average of 320 sunny days per year. Altitude also appreciated by the bulbs and the soil well-drained sandy loam, gives them an ideal environment.
On a former orchard fallow for years, one hundred thousand corms of Crocus Sativus were planted either twenty acres which overlap in the autumn with a carpet of purple flowers and Violets, surrounded by green long narrow leaves.
No fertilizer or pesticide, organic fertilizer only...
No fertilizer or chemical pesticides are used. Only organic fertilizer are use under agreement and manure from sheep herders who share the same respect for the planet.
The flowers are harvested at dawn, before the outbreak caused by the sun, it’s with loving care that stigma is then trimmed and dried between 30 and 50 ° C over a wood stove or on dehydrator.
