The Canigou:  A sacred mountain.
 

The peak of the Canigou is the last western summit of the Pyrenean mountain chain.  It measures 2784m.  Its geographical location offers a fantastic view over the Roussillon plain.  This summit is the Catalans' sacred mountain.  The hike leading to the peak is accessible to hikers with little experience from the Cortalets Refuge.

This 3 star refuge is at the foot of the Canigou (It is highy recommended to book in advance).
