It is at the bottom of the valley of Vanera, after having taken a narrow road running along the river Vanera, that you can find the picturesque small village of Valcebollere. Composed of three or four hamlets which have disappeared today, Valcebollere was one of the largest villages in Cerdagne last century. There were 400 inhabitants: Shepherds, stone cutters, carpenters, lumber jacks. Renown for its slate, the shale quarries located above the village supplied the flagstones to cover the roofs of a large number of houses in Cerdagne.
